Emergency Plan
BRAUNTON EMERGENCY PLAN
While there is no statutory requirement to produce an emergency plan for Braunton, Devon County Council encourages parishes to consider how they would respond to an emergency situation and to document the results in a Community Emergency Plan. Emergencies have no boundaries and could affect the Parish or indeed the whole district. Due to the unknown nature of emergencies, the regular emergency services and other agencies may be overwhelmed resulting in a delayed response.
The purpose of any plan is to enable the Parish to respond to the negative impacts of the emergency until further assistance from the emergency services is available. A group was formed to develop the plan, which included members of the community, police, fire service and Parish Councillors. A meeting has been held to test the plan by using various scenarios to try and ensure that it is realistic and achievable and will work. There are some minor amendments to be made following this meeting and then it will be submitted to the Parish Council for formal approval.
Council wishes to thank the following businesses for supplying items that could be needed in the event of a major incident or disaster:-
- AMPM Office Equipment
- Braunton News
- Lloyds Pharmacy
- Travis Perkins
- PAC Chemicals & Paper Supplies
- The Agricultural Inn
- Tesco
Council would also like to thank all those individuals who have offered their time and expertise to assist in any event that may arise, in particular Mr Patrick Farrelly MBE, who was instrumental in writing the plan.
